Just a bad phone UI design

I had to pick up another mobile phone number, so I went looking for a basic phone to get to put it on. I called my cell provider, AT&T, and was pointed to the LG CF360. The physical design is good. It feels solid, the sliding is smooth and locks/unlocks easily. It’s got Bluetooth support [...]

HP is buying Palm

HP has been on a buying spree.  They bought 3Com, and now they have just purchased a former 3Com company, Palm Corp. for $1.2 billion. The article I linked talks about what HP could do with Palm’s webOS for mobile devices, including using it in netbooks and tablet devices. What it doesn’t talk about is [...]

Nerd Bling

OK,I admit that I’m using the title from the latest episode of TWiT. It just describes this product so well. The Orb Bluetooth headset/ring. Not only is this trendy nerd jewelry, it has some nice tech included.  Bone conduction and Flexible Organic Light Emitting Device screen that allows you to look at a ring on [...]

Two new Android phones

AT&T is finally carrying an Android based phone, this one is made by Dell, and called the Mini 3. This phone has been selling overseas already, so the specs are pretty well known. 3.5-inch 640×360 display, Bluetooth, 3 megapixel auto-focus camera with flash, microSD, and GPS.   Two things catch my eye, no WiFi and [...]

The Droid

Verizon has finally gotten what could a be a viable iPhone replacement.  A phone running the latest version of Google’s Andorid OS and a growing supply of applitions. I haven’t got my hands on one yet, but I’ve read a few reviews that state it stands up quite well in head to head comparisons with [...]

Summer of the Smart Phone

Let’s review what is announced/rumored for this summer. Palm’s Pre is due out in two days.  Will it be enought to save Palm? Hell, Sprint could use the boost too. Two days after that,  the new iPhone firmware is release, and probably new iPhone hardware as well. Later this month, Nokia’s N97 is due out [...]

Android marches on

Andy Rubin, Google’s senior director for mobile platforms claims that Android will be on 18-20 mobile phones from over a half dozen manufactures by the end of the year. It will be interesting to see how much of the iPhone/Blackberry Smart Phone market all the G-Phones manages to get. Google’s Android on more platforms than WINCE [...]

New Android Phones

The makers of the G1 announce that they are working on three new Android based phones. Details only on one.  About the same size as the G1, but no physical keyboard. I’m interested to see how Google responds to the latest iPhone firmware announcement.

3.0 iPhone software

The big news, Cut & Paste! The new software is supposed to announced tomorrow.  Rumors of a tethering app as well, but expect AT&T to want extra for it.

Android as a Netbook OS

There has been grumbling about the lack of cell phone platforms available for Google’s Android OS. Perhaps it is because the cell phone platform was just a Beta test for Android. Rumors about Android being targeted for Netbooks have been around for a while.  Well, it’s not a rumor anymore.  Android has been successfully loaded [...]
